Mountain View students spend day as art collectors

Jennifer La, Art Teacher at Mountain View Elementary, shared this great experience for her and her student that occurred over the summer.

"This summer Mountain View Elementary School was selected to participate in the Cherry Creek Art Festival Student Art Buying Program. We were one of 20 schools from Colorado selected to participate. I selected 3 students and together we went to the Art Festival on July 2nd. My students were given $500 to purchase an artwork of their choosing to bring back and hang at our school. My students and I spent the day visiting all the artist booths, talking to artists and selecting our artwork. This was an amazing opportunity for my students. They had a wonderful time and did an excellent job talking to the artists."

This story exemplifies our ELEVATE Focus Area: Outside-the-Classroom Learning. Sharing stories about how the district offers students multiple learning opportunities outside the traditional classroom providing various pathways to success.
