A Note from the classroom:

Mrs. Spratt:

Our teachers are putting intentional planning into action as we prepare to launch academic monitoring in our classrooms. During our half-day planning sessions, last week, teachers worked to develop clear, student-friendly Success Criteria that help students understand what successful learning looks like. Last week I saw teachers strengthening  their practice of checking in with students throughout the lesson, gathering evidence of their learning, and providing timely feedback that helps them identify their next steps.

This work is about making learning more visible—for both teachers and students. When students know what success looks like and teachers are consistently checking for understanding and responding with feedback, we are better positioned to identify gaps, adjust instruction, and help every student grow.

Mr. Tusa:

This past week I was able to attend the monthly Instructional Coaches meeting with our our coach, Ms. Torres. We discussed the new math curriculum and went over how each unit allows for multiple opportunities to help uncover student misconceptions in order to close gaps. Ms. Torres will be leading professional learning on 9/28 to help deepen our knowledge on the ins and outs of our new math curriculum.
