Hi! My name is Debbie Decker and I am the newest third grade teacher and currently the third grade remote teacher. I am very happy and excited to be working at Mountain View! I have been working for many years here in Adams 12. As a second grade teacher at Hunters Glen, after student teaching there, and more recently, as a substitute teacher. I received my BA from Metro State University with a major in Behavioral Science and a minor in ECE, as well as my elementary teacher certification. I am the mother of three, a son and daughter who are grown and flown, and a daughter who is a senior at Legacy. All three of my children went to Adams 12 schools. When each was very young I worked in their preschools. First as a teacher then later in director positions. I have lived in this north metro area since I was 11 years old and I am a graduate of Mapleton Public Schools. I feel very connected to this community and feel like I know it well. I am looking forward to getting to know the Mountain View community and finding ways to connect with it during the different times we are adapting to. In my free time I like to do typical activities like spending time with family, reading, watching movies, and all that, but one new hobby that I took up this spring is raising chickens! I have discovered that I really enjoy taking care of my chickens and now that they are finally laying eggs, I have more than I need, so I enjoy sharing them with others. In my classroom I am fair and consistent, kind and caring. I am ready to keep my students on a learning path that leads them to where they need to be according to standards as well as a journey that is full of fun and discovery, challenges and successes, and compassion for each other. I have been looking to find a place to put down roots and bloom as a teacher.I am so excited to do this at Mountain View!
