Dear Mountain View Families,
I am very pleased to introduce myself to you. My name is Peggy Heath, and I am excited to serve the students, families, and staff at Mountain View Elementary as your new principal. I've heard and learned so many wonderful things about the Mountain View community and I'm looking forward to working with everyone to help our students continue to learn and grow and become their very best selves.
Here's my brief biography: I am a native of the beautiful state of Michigan and am an alumna of Michigan State University. Although I've lived all over the state, I lived most recently in Grand Haven, which is right on the shores of Lake Michigan. After college, the mountains called me to Colorado, where I began my teaching career back in 1997. I served as a middle school and elementary school classroom teacher for 7 years, then as an elementary reading interventionist for 6 years. After earning my principal license from the University of Denver, I entered the world of elementary school administration and now have 6 years of administrator experience under my belt. If you are doing the math, that makes this year my 20th year in education!
Outside of school, I spend as much time with my husband and kids as possible. As a family, we enjoy traveling, swimming, hiking and camping, outdoor concerts, Rockies and Rapids games, playing board games, and watching movies together. We also spend a good deal of time at the kids' sporting and band events as well as playing with our pets (2 cats, 1 dog, and 4 gerbils).
When I have a little time to myself, I love to read, walk my dog, listen to music, drink my tea or coffee, or experiment with healthful cooking and baking.
I am absolutely thrilled to join the Mountain View community. My goals for this year are simply to help everyone continue with the excellence I know is already in place at Mountain View. The staff has already worked so hard to provide a top-notch education for our students, and our state test scores make that very evident. This year, I will ensure that the exceptional programs continue at Mountain View... everything from the D/HH program, to Gifted and Talented, to Balanced Literacy, to 7 Habits, to specials, and everything in between.
After Labor Day, I will begin hosting regular parent coffees. You are invited to come chat with me informally so I can get to know the Mountain View families and you can get to know me. Please stay tuned for these event dates, times, and locations.
It is an absolute honor to serve the Mountain View community and I know it is going to be a fantastic school year.
Thank you, and make it a great day.
Mountain View Principal
